How Your Money Works

Check out this animation by Muscle Beaver which was commissioned as part of a green campaign in Germany. I’m loving the angular styling and animation.

I’ve always loved these guys and their song Splitting the Atom has a tasty film by Edouard Salier.

A few posts back I mentioned the book We Are the Friction, but I didn’t say why I bought it. The sole reason was because I love the illustration above, which was included in this series of short stories.
I have come across Jon Klassen’s work many times in the last month. A few weeks ago I saw this animation in which he collaborated with David O’Reilly (another talent that I will post about soon).

With the first working week of the new year begun, leave behind the rat-race for a moment. And play, the rat-race.

“Every day the same dream” is a slightly existential riff on the theme of alienation and refusal of labor. The idea was to charge the cyclic nature of most video games with some kind of meaning (i.e. the “play again” is not a game over). Yes, there is an end state, you can “beat” the game.

Flairs – Truckers Delight
I’m not really sure what to say about this, other than watch it at your own risk. This may offend and it’s safe to say that it’s NSFW.

This music video is the nuts, and what promos should be. Just watch it and you’ll see what I mean.

I missed this when it was fresh and new, but I’m so glad that I came across it the other day. I can’t explain what this film is about, so I won’t try, but here’s what the makers said.

‘Peripetics or The installation of an irreversible axis on a dynamic timeline’ Zeitguised made a piece in six acts for the opening exhibition at the Zirkel Gallery. It entails six imaginations of disoriented systems that take a catastrophic turn, including the evolution of educational plant-body-machine models and liquid building materials. This is really worth a few minutes of your time. A short film by Spike Jonze with Kanye West. Think Jonze, rather than West.
