In Your Fridge by Stéphanie de Rougé

It’s been ages since I’ve posted anything, so here’s a nice photography project that I noticed to kick things off again.

Stéphanie de Rougé is a photographer living in New York, and in this documentary series she has asked New Yorkers and Parisians to open their fridges, and perhaps their souls, to the lens of her camera.

12:31

12:31 is the time that Joseph Paul Jernigan was executed. He was convicted of murder in 1981 and his sentence was carried out on 5 August 1993. Before his death he donated his body to medical science and subsequently his body was sectioned and photographed as part of the Visible Human Project.

The video above is a remarkable journey through the 1,871 slices of his body from head to toe.

Amazing as this animation is, this is not where the story ended. Artists Croix Gagnon and Frank Schott used the animation to create light paintings by photographing it (on a computer screen) with long exposures. The results are eerie, yet beautiful recreations of Jernigan’s cadaver ‘floating’ in space.

Bartholot

I love graphics. Well it’s my job, isn’t it? When combined with photography it’s an instant win for me.

Bartholot is a designer whose photographic illustration has a strong sense of graphic composition. In his own words ‘Carefully crafted imagery.’ And colour. Though I probably don’t need to say that.

Thanks to BumBumBum for bring this to my attention.

Back to the Future by Irina Werning

Back to the Future is a photography project which invites people to step in to past and re-enact their old childhood photos. I like the simplicity of this concept – it’s a great balance with the complexity of the execution.

Relics by Cody Hamilton

Photo series by Cody Hamilton found via bumbumbum

Big like.

Relics is a project playing off the idea that the white Greek statues that we see now were once bright, colorful and vibrant. I wanted to bring that idea to the most colorful and vibrant decade ever, THE 80′s!
